This unit examines urban patterns of development and the unique challenges that cities face as they expand or decline. Students will learn about factors affecting the development of businesses and services in urban areas as well as the history of cities. They will examine settlement patterns of cities, suburban expansion, and the downtown of urban areas. Ultimately, we will analyze distinctive trends of various cities around the world.
